What?
A soft plastic is any type of plastic that you can scrunch in your hand.
Where?
If completely clean and free of product such as bark or compost, this can be placed in your recycling bin.
If all product has not been completely removed it should be placed in the residual waste bin.
How?
These bags can be difficult to completely remove residue from and often cause contamination of other recyclable materials.
Items placed in your recycling bin need to be clean, dry and loose. If you are unable to ensure this then the item should be placed in your general waste bin
General Comment / Tip
All of your soft plastics can go in the recycle bin, if clean and dry. When sorted, if the plastic types are currently recyclable and there is access to markets they will be sent to specialised, polymer specific recycling facilities. If they are not currently recyclable they will be sent for energy recovery through Solid Residual Fuel (SRF) production for cement plants.
