Packing peanuts

You get these in packages that may have been delivered

These can be Styrofoam which should be placed in your general waste bin

or sometimes they are made of a material which is water soluble

If there is no instruction then test one peanut by placing it in some water if it is biodegradable it will instantly start to disintegrate.

General Comment / Tip

Biodegradable packing peanuts are made from natural, nontoxic sources, such as wheat and corn starch. They dissolve in water and can be thrown into compost piles after a single use. In addition, biodegradable foam peanuts do not have an electrostatic charge, meaning they will not stick to clothes.
