Wrapping paper

Plastics

What?

Decorative sheets used for wrapping gifts. They come in many varieties such as light card, printed paper, foil & metallic wrap.

Where?

Paper & card types are widely recyclable, just try to remove sellotape if you can as well as bows and ribbons.

Shiny & metallic gift wrap, maybe with glitter, is a composite material that cannot be recycled so should be avoided where possible but if you do have this type place it in the general waste bin. If in good condition, bows and ribbons should be removed for reuse instead of being thrown out.

How?

Make sure that items for the recycling bin are placed there clean, dry and loose.

General Comment / Tip

Try to reuse wrapping paper when possible or add a personal touch by using something like a person’s favourite old magazine instead.

Removed bows and ribbons can be used as decorations or to adorn other gifts in future.

If you are going to use bows or ribbons make sure to use ones that can be reused year after year and opt for ones made of cloth.
